I was in the same position not too long ago, I'm a 32 year old art student, with a military background, safe to say, I'm not like the other children. I visited a few schools in the country, I was accepted to better programs, just didn't like the location. Made a decision right then and there not to go to a place. However, I will say this, all the money and time spent traveling and exploring never, ever, felt wasted. I also took in consideration, networking abilities, weather, stuff to do outside of school, during school. I'm from FL (geographically south, but not culturally) I think that a year in Japan would be something you would talk about for the rest of your life. Plus SC has sweet tea.
