I haven't been following this, I am glad this mod is useful for some of you :)

 

Try different type of materials, there's no limit to what they are and very cheap to try and can be apply to other types of headphones.

 

If the socks are too itchy,try different type of socks, or change the cardboard/paper for different sound stage.

Such and old post but very usefull. My first coment here in HF. I use the same mod in a pair of itrack HP-60s headphones that looks very similar to a superlux hd-681. Instead of cardboard I used the top of a used kryspo cylinder. It fit perfect and have the advantage that it doesnt deform, well i hope that someone make use of it. Sorry about my english.
