OMG ... No Parametric EQs ??? !!!

Can anyone tell me just why in hell no-one has designed a tiny, battery powered parametric EQ for portable devices like the Ipod ?

GOD how I wish I were an electronic engineer, or guru !!! I'd make a fortune with this ever so OBVIOUSLY lacking, and oh so needed device !!!!!!!!!!

Can you imagine ?? Think of all the IEMs and cans that would suddenly have ALL of their slight weeknesses removed and become world class competitors with a good parametric in the right hands ???

Yea I don't know either why no one has done this. A high class portable amp with an EQ would be like a dream and make up for alot of issues pairing head phones and DAP's.

The closest thing I have seen is the XM5 portable amp i own that has a bass and treble boost.

There is a koss portable EQ, but it is cheap and sounds terrible.

No, no my good man .... NOT built in to an amp, or playback device !

It needs to be a slim stand alone, where EVERYONE can use it with ANY equipment they already own. This is a goldmine waiting to happen, GOD how I wish I had taken electronics about now !!

So you'd pay money to carry around a box that adds distortion to the signal rather than just put a software version on the DAP?

I believe my Rio Karma has one built in.

Can you even do digital processing on an analog signal? I thought standalone equalizers involved filtering/separating the various parts of the spectrum, running it through an equalizing circuit, then mushing it all back together at the end.

So you have a source for someone who can put a good parametric EQ on my 80g Ipod DAP ? If so, let's have it then.

While a great idea I think it would be natural to have it be built into a high quality portable amp, a lot of us already use portable amps and it would not be practical to use a portable amp and a portable EQ.

This link below is the portable AMP I use, it is very good and has changeable opamps and buffers which really up the sound quality. I bought it because it has a bass and treble boost without degrading the signal at all and a ton of other good features as well. Even a 3-Band EQ built into this thing would make it one of a kind.

I have been designing and building ALL of my own cables for 15 years. NOTHING in the world of name brand cables comes close for the money. Don't pay for snake oil ! I'll put my $100 DIY digital coax up against ANYONE'S ... regardless of price !! ANYTIME !!!
So you're a cable salesman?

Cable salesman ? NO ..... I am a cable educator. Educating anyone who wants to know, they can make their own cables that SMOKE what manufacturer's make for MUCH, MUCH less.

Want one example ? Vacuum State makes a solid silver interconnect that sells for $800 per one meter pair. I have reversed engineered that cable, and YOU can make the same cable with the same construction, higher purity silver, and the same connectors for only $230 !!!

DIY cables is my hobby, my passion, but NOT my source of income.

I understand your point, but I want a parametric EQ to go with my P-51 Mustang .... see, it's just that I'm not willing to give up the Mustang's insanely great sonics !

IC.

Do you have an opinion of the various cable threads in Sound Science?

Your 80GB iPod wouldn't happen to be a 5.5-gen, would it?

'Cause the Rockbox devs can put an excellent parametric EQ on that...
