5G Ipod LOD in Iphone 3GS

Hello Guys and girls...

First, I did do some research but could not find any thread that answers my question.

I do have an 5G ipod LOD and there is a friend who wants a LOD for his Iphone 3GS.
I know it won't work straight away but I wonder if there is any way I can make it work so I can solve his problem, maybe with some re wiring or even and adapter.

Cheers

Patrick

iPhones require a ~68K resistor between pin 21 and ground, and pin 11 needs to be tied to ground as well. The nearest ground is on pins 15 and 16. The LOD will work in the iPhone 3GS without these tweaks, but you'll get that annoying "This accessory was not made for iPhone" message every time you plug it in.

Well problem is you need to get the 30pin connector open without breaking it so you can put it back together. Once open hope that it still has the pins that you will need to jumper. Basically you can make it work by connecting one pin to gnd (forget which pin, google it). That will make it output sound through the LOD, however you will get a warning message about it not be an approved device. This is really no big deal and can be ignored. If you want to not have the warning message you need to a specific value resistor between another pin and ground (again google for the values).

That said it would probably be much easier to just buy a new 30 pin connector and reuse the rest of the cable. You can get the 30pin connectors for under $5 with shipping.

It will not work without the pin 11 tied to gnd at a min. If you do not have that it will not output audio through the LOD and will instead continue to use the builtin speaker like nothing was connected.

Anywhere or anyway I can buy or have someone do an Iphone connector with all those modifications I can just solder the wire with the 1/8 connector?
