A while back I had made mention about getting an Electric Avenues PAV2 headphone amp from Gary Ali
I had mentioned I was going to give a detailed review, but that will take a bit longer.
Okay, here goes the basic.
My current set up, as mentioned previously, NOTHING SPECIAL, but a Magnavox 2GB player and Magnavox MPH1100 headphones.
I have fed EVERYTHING I can think of into this headphone amp and it just DOES NOT clip.
What amazes me the most is the level of transparencey I get with the modest system I have.
To start with the Magnavox headphones could be considered a cheap clone of my Sennheiser HD497 (graciously donated by a Head-Fi memeber) and will NOT go outside. They have a similar mid-band, almost to that of the Koss KSC 75's and a very solid, but not extended bottom end. As is with cheap heaphones, there is a nasty H.F glare, BUT these could have the possibility for mods.
What amazes me about the PAV2 is how dynamic it is with my current setup. It can only get better once I improve the setup I have as I will be doing next month.
I have fed everything from classical to Madonna and '80's music through the PAV2. This is one SWEET AMP.
I am hoping to upgrade to a Hisound Amp3 Pro2 so I expect this can only be LEAGUES better than what I have
