What you have to understand is, although most of us respect freedom of speech, but you are still just a 'guest' in a forum owned by someone. And by signing up and posting threads/posts, you agree that there are certain things that you are still not allowed to talk about (forum rules) such as adult stuff, religion, politics, or talking bad about me.
This rule is not made to disrespect your freedom of speech, but it is more so to prevent some retarded thread that will end up being a waste of bandwidth and people's time, and also to prevent pointless arguments and name calling on the forum. I hope you understand now, and remember, you are free to express your freedom of speech as long as I like what you're talking about. okay? Also just because we have freedom of speech, it doesn't always mean that you are freely to talk about whatever you want (either good or bad) where ever you want. Common sense and respect should also present, and I know this is just a forum, but if you try to exercise your freedom of speech (in a wrong way) in a wrong side of a block, you might end up being shot in the face. There's not point being able to express freedom of speech if there's a big hole on your face. Ask Kirosia if you don't believe me - He shot a few people and monkeys before. |

What gives you the idea there should be 'freedom of speech' on Head-fi, or any other private website? If you're speaking of 'freedom of speech' as in the 1st Amendment, that's a protection you have against the government, not the proprietors of a website. On a private website where you register as a member, you agree to terms and conditions. If those terms and conditions don't suit you, then you don't register as a member (or if you're already a member, you leave).
This is not to say that I endorse and/or agree with each and every rule here at Head-fi. In fact, I think the banning of controversial topics here is rather silly and draconian and against the original intent of the site. But, it's not my website. If I want to participate here, I do so in abidance with the rules. |
