Why Headfi doesnt forbit re-sell of HF2 for more than their orig.price

Having tried them and founded that they are not worth even the original price I am not looking for a pair, so , this post not because of my frustration, however even they were I wouldnt be looking for one anyway. To me, the whole point of HF production are for headfiers only, for those who want to charish them, no matter what, but also keep as something special, however...I do understand that at some point folks are willing to move etc, etc, bla, bla, and thats o.k., but why headfi doesnt make a rule for such special things and doesnt allow to resell them for more than original price, feels more appropriate, if you ask me. I know such threads may were started in the past, but I just see them all over the place, include Ebay and do feel sad about it, because folks just make a vast dollar and nobody do nothing about it. One more time, I dont feel frustrating or mad, its just something like this must have limits and been passing to somebody who may love it for what they are, otherwise all that talk about special thing isnt really there, imo.

ps I do understand for folks outside of US who may paid customs duty its not easy to do differently, but for US based its no problem at all.

Why do you hate freedom?
Haha... jk.

If the demand is there then why not sell higher?
It's one thing to help the new buyer to get something cheaper but it's another to also take money away from a potentially higher sale. Help guy A save some money or limit guy B on making more money on a sale?

Legality aside, how exactly would Head-Fi enforce what you're asking? Yes, they can delete FS threads here or ban users who try to resell them above MSRP but Head-Fi has no jurisdiction over what people do outside these forums (e.g. eBay like you mentioned, or Audiogon/Craigslist). What you want is understandable in theory but not practical in reality.

No. That is silly.

Such run was meant for head fi, as an community. And I dont see anything wrong with the fact that they going to be sold somewhere else than up here, if going higher than original price. I think you miss the point, even you paid the duty you must understand that there is no community if you use such thing to make a dollar, so, in that regard head fi can remove the FS thread , no probs with me here.

I agree with Blackmore, they were made for headfiers, if people keep buying them and selling them for profit John won't make a HF3. Im suprised he made the HF2 after so many HF1s found their way onto ebay. I understand people might pay more for customs etc which is understandable, but its people adding profit on which will spoil it for the rest of us.

Headfi should warn members who advertise higher than RRP + Shipping/Customs, and ban them if they do not lower the price.

There will always be some s***s who sell for profit outside of headfi, but theres nothing you can do about that.

Just my opinion

Be realistic here, HF-1s and HF-2s were not produced entirely for altruistic motives.

No, but they were produced for members of this community, hence "HF".

Supply and demand.

Has nobody ever made a profit on a sale through the head-fi forums?

Bottom line: If no one paid the markup price, people wouldn't sell them at that price.

Devil's Advocate Question: is it better to keep them within "the community", regardless of price, or have them sold elsewhere?

I remember when I joined in 2006 that selling the original HF1 outside the community was frowned upon. I recall some posts about a head-fier who posted theirs on Ebay and got flamed for it. However, I don't have the same recollection with selling above the original price.

I'm indifferent about the whole thing but it does appear to be a sign of the times that selling the HF2 to the highest bidder inside or outside the community is perfectly fine. Read into that what you will.

If they went outside the community, they could end up on a garage sale table for $2. To my warped thinking, that would be a good thing, and not because I dislike them. Um... cuz I don't. I would like to hear a set though.
