Why bother with portable amps ? - Page 8

I could see me with a some laptop speakers such as Audioengine or Akitmate, but that is about it. I feel a new thread coming on.......

It's a great summer brochure hut! But face it - in friggin' freezing Scotland in summer, let alone in winter, that hut don't look anything like that

I must have ADHD or something. I'd rather run, jog, rollerblade, walk, cycle, anything moving! with my porty amp and music than sit in the same place all the time

Honestly - 8 pages of this: a portable amp is really not much bother. Not much bother at all.

Right, no bother for me. I even use a portable amp in bed with Phonak...XM5 because the difference is not small.

I completely agree, what the hell is a portable rig for if it’s not being used on the go, heck at home I’d rather listen to my Marantz/Advent set up or WA6/hd650’s in bed while sufing the net.

Does, extreme scooter riding, canoeing and skateboarding qualify as "not sitting in same place" as I do all these and more with my portable rig & amp at my side

Purdy fancee crapper.

Have it fit with a projector and rumbler seats you'd have a pretty comfy mancave.

3. To say my MP3 sound better than yours (ok dont take that serious !)

4. Why not, if there's any room for improvement why not use it.
Total agree. Some thing is not weigh by money or size especially the sound quality. 5% of improvement of sound quality is worth my 100% efforts, of course including money , energy and time.

My 4thG iMod needs an amp to function but even if it didn't I'm too much of a gadget head not to have at least one. (I have four I believe with one on the way)

Because there is nothing in the world I like better than hooking up my K601, my Hornet, and my Nano and then going cruising to the mall while listening to my tunes.

Yep. I'm up for a 5% improvement anytime!

Well, a small portable amp is great: I love the T3D which other than a bit of hiss and a small sheen on upper treble drives IEMS better than any portable player out there (any at all, full stop.) It also looks great and can do a great job with medium sized headphones.

Several of my iems which lose edge (FitEar 333) without a good portable amp gain it back again with the T3D. The hiss I could do without, but it is definitely better than the amp inside the Sony X. What the X has over it is warmth, but that is just the Sony signature, the amp inside the X isn't that impressive, just warm and smooth.
