SHM CD version of Watermark is indeed better than the regular one. It has clarity and the sound is more forward and airy.
They used a multiband compressor? /duck
That's saying something, Watermark to me sounds better than her other albums, though I have only 3 others.
I remember Watermark was one of the first DDD CDs and it was the worst CD recording I owned at the time I regularly listened to it.
Watermark sounds ok, but its kinda flat sounding,
Head-Fi still is the place to go for wildly varying opinions on everything, it seems. :p
I consider the album to be rather good-sounding indeed. Artificial for sure, but good. The next one, Shepherd Moons, is much less dynamic and bores me to death. Sounds like the same recipe for speaker-impaired folks.
