EMM Labs: Need HELP from a fellow canadian Head-Fi'er...

I'm having a hard time getting an upgrade kit from EMM Labs...

Head-Fi members have always been unbelieveably kind, supporting me on my headphone journey over the years. I owe a lot to this place. Most of what I have now is due to the camaraderie going on here. (See me signature, just to mention a few names)

And here I am again, looking for someone in Canada who is willing to give me a hand.

If you are willing to help, please contact me by PM or e-mail: hugof at hotlink dot com dot br
Or just post here and let me know, and I will get in touch with you.
Will appreciate it very, very much!

Thanks for looking!

Well, let me explain better what kind of problem I'm facing with my CDSA-SE player.

The transport mechanism of this player is incredibly bad. I mean REALLY bad.
It's the stock Phillips transport. It makes a loud noise sometimes, that's caused by vibration. The noise isn't always there, but happens most of the time.
On some CDs, the vibration is so big that the data becomes unreadable and it simply doesn't reproduce anything. This is with a brand new, clean and unscratched CD.
I'm sure the DAC section of this one-box player is awesome. But the transport isn't up to the task, and I'm afraid it's not only vibrating, making noise and refusing to play some CDs, but also missing a lot of the recorded information. In other words, it's a huge bottleneck.

Not surprisingly, EMM Labs started offering an upgrade for the CDSA about one year after unveiling it. In 2008, there was a german drive upgrade available.
They have noticed their flaw and all the new products now comes with a much better quality transport.
I think this upgrade is mandatory for all the CDSA owners... It's simply frustrating to have something so expensive working with such a flaw.

OK, I just thought I owed you some further explanation.

I'm not in Canada, but out of curiosity, what do you actually need someone to do?

i think it was last year that the CDSA SE started to come out with a new (more sturdier) transport and upgraded feet. and of course, the new emm labs player uses an esoteric transport, so it seems like they finally understand the importance of it.

Just for letting you guys know: I've fixed my EMM Labs player for US$1,00.

The problem was the rubber belt that spins the disc that was worn. It works perfectly now, without a single hiss!
