Musiland Driver: exact sample rate version

Musiland is releasing the "exact sample rate" driver:

From the musiland forum and translated with google:

Monitor new seriesDrivers(Integrated wheel version) released a beta version tomorrow, welcome to test, and put forward valuable opinions!
Drivers are divided into turntable mode and normal mode. Normal mode, either ran with the same manner as the current-driven processing. In the dial mode, is divided into a multiple of 44.1SamplingRate and sampling rate in multiples of 48, two kinds of treatment (two APU program, real-time download). In the dial mode, because all dsp resources, brought only the calculation of a sampling rate, so the clock accuracy is far higher than the normal mode.

MonitorSeriesUSBSoundCard1.0.8.2 VersionDriversCompared with the previous driver, an increase of high-precision mode (that is, have said earlier, wheel drive). Starting high-precision mode, all the dsp resources are carried out in 44.1 or 48 multiples of multiples of a singleSamplingFrequency calculations, such a sampling accuracy than the original normal mode is more accurate. The driver of the fast sampling model, it corresponds to previous versions of the drive mode.
Important:
1, start high-precision sampling mode, sampling rate in multiples of 44.1 and 48 if the change between multiple, apu will re-load the corresponding algorithm, so the code need 2,3 seconds to load time. During this period, 01 us, 02 us inside the relay will be action. IfDigitalOutputSo, external decoder, amplifier may be sharp tone, pause and so on.
2, if do not want to produce one described in some cases, please lock the sampling rate.
3, if not used or do not like the high-precision sampling mode, please use the fast sampling mode, or to use the driver.
4, test version of driver, please, treat, if you encounter is not functioning properly, please reflect on this, we will be improved.

Installed on my Monitor 02 US. Damn this is nice, they now use exactly what was said should be used in this and other forums. A product that keeps getting better... Maybe jkeny or anyone else can give this a technical review and verify that now it is true 44.1 and not cutting corners with a single master clock.

I also installed it on my musiland 02 US but I am unsure about the advance settings?
I have it set to:

SR Control: 44.1
Fast Mode
ASIO Buffer: 10

Should I have it set to precision mode? What is the difference?

According to the above description you have two modes:

"Precision" and "Fast" modes. In precision mode, the code will determine if the sample rate is 44.1k multiple or 48K multiple and create an exact clock frequency. This switch apparently requires 2-3 sec and could result in noise, etc.

In fast mode (I assume), it will behave like before, using a single algorithm to calculate the clock frequency resulting is a small deviation (but still within the spdif spec) of the sample frequency.

Apparently you can also lock the sample rate to prevent switching the clock calculation code and avoid the 2-3 sec switching delay.

So I think you should use precision mode to take advantage of the "exact frequency" feature.

I had all but given up hope of seeing the clock lock indicator of my Grace m902 light up when playing 44.1 kHz material from the Musiland 01 USD.

After installing the 1.0.8.2 driver there is now a lock at all sample rates. Unfortunately, playing Hi-Rez files resulted in severly distorted sound at first, but after uninstalling and reinstalling the driver a second time all is good.

I'm having some long dropouts when streaming internet radio, but this may be unrelated to the new driver. I need to do more testing.

Bottom line is that now my PC sourced music sounds as good or better than from my CDP.

Good to hear. The Musiland site indicates that this is a beta driver and are soliciting feedback. However, although it is fairly easy to join the forum, most of the time they don't respond to english posts, perhaps not many can read english...

I've also installed the latest driver. There is a noticeable improvement. Some additional details in the upper frequencies and "texture" in voices.

I am registered on the Musiland forum and have posted in the past. But I think it's best to just let the Chinese speakers do the feedback/talking. Some of them seem pretty competent.

About Musiland Drivers 1.0.8.2

Hello !

I've just upgraded from 1.0.5, fast installed , nothing wrong .....
The bug 'Return from Sleep Mode' has disappeared, on my Xindows XP sp3.
Configured 'Precision Mode' gives a bit more 'aerial' music...

Sounds better with the new mode.

Be sure to reboot after uninstalling previous version! I went from 1.0.7.0 to 1.0.8.2 by just uninstalling-unplugging-installing-plugging. After that the versions were:
ICU 1.6
APU 2.0

I saw screenshots on musiland forums that ICU should be 1.8. So I uninstalled 1.0.8.2 driver, removed the device, rebooted the computer, installed the driver and plugged in my 02 US. Now the versions are:
ICU 1.8
APU 2.0

Be sure your versions are the same before blaming the new driver - maybe you cut corners like me without rebooting and ended up with partially installed new driver.

I forgot to mention that at least on my setup when using precision mode, there is only about a one or two second pause (with a little pop-up window) when it goes through the sample rate change. The best news is that there is no sign of "amplifier may be sharp tone" or any other noise that I can hear.

After installing the 1.0.8.2 driver there is now a lock at all sample rates.
Works only 24/48bit other samples rates failed to change.

anyone's got a working l/p to their forum please? I can't seem to be able to register(chinese writings antibot measures), and I can't browse it w/o a proper l/p

they have a thread about rolling the OP275 stock opamps I'd like to read..BTW, I've just ordered the 02US and sure plan on using these new drivers, thanks for the tip!

very nice, thanks! but it doesn't work if I use google-translate..is there any way to read this forum at all? I should run a translator in my web browser I guess?

that's the thread I'm interested in btw: 关于02USçš„è¿æ”¾OP275å‡çº§ - 外置USBå£°å¡ (USB Sound Devices) - ä¹ä¹‹é‚¦å®¢æˆ·è®ºå› MUSILAND Forums - Powered by Discuz!
