Thread Starter
There was another thread here about this, is there a way as the *seller* to not get hit with fees? Check this out from my recent transactions:

Total Amount:
$6.25 USD Fee amount:
-$0.48 USD Net amount:
$5.77 USD
Total Amount:
$0.51 USD Fee amount:
-$0.31 USD Net amount:
$0.20 USD
Total Amount:
$0.86 USD Fee amount:
-$0.32 USD Net amount:
$0.54 USD

WTF!

If thats the rules, then thats the rules. Maybe having a different type of paypal account makes a difference? Talk to paypal about it i guess. Fees stink, but without them, there would be no paypal. Its a business.

Fees might suck, but they're necessary. Without them the service would have disappeared a long time ago. It's a convenience service, it's quick and relatively painless, and for that you pay a fee. Sure beats postal orders and the US mail, imho. I peronally don't mind the fees, and I sure as heck don't pass them on to the buyer like some people here do. I just don't get that.. you're using the service, pay your way, don't be cheap and jack up prices to have someone else pay for your convenience. Just my opinion of course.

I have been offering no Paypal fees every time I sell stuff. because you can get Paypal to cut you a check for $1.50 reguard less amount, and mail to you home. Works great every time. I am not sure for international transactions, but in US is very ture. Seller charge 3~4% fee is a way to make money, especialy big dollar items.

Why would somebody send $0.51 by Paypal? It beats me.

Reminds me of the beginning of The Big Lebowski, actually :-)

I think if you send the payment as a gift it doesn't have fees but I have heard of some problems doing it though.

I sent once a payment as a gift and I was asked whether I want to pay myself the fees or do I want the receiver to pay them. So in order to send 100USD I had to pay like 104USD or so.

I hate paying the fee's when selling an item as well, especially using ebay, you get hit with the listing fee, fee after the sale, and the paypal fee. Like others have said though, they are running a business and they have to make money, it's also convenient so I guess I shouldn't complain.

email form ebay:

Starting March 30, 2010 selling on eBay will be a better deal than ever!

List Auction-style FREE--no Insertion Fees--when you start your Auction-style listing under $1.

Get new, lower Insertion Fees for all other start prices.

Either way, pay one easy Final Value Fee of 9% of the winning bid (but never more than $50)-and pay only if your item sells.

List in Fixed Price for 50¢, with Final Value Fees for the most part staying the same.
This new standard fee structure will replace the current "first 5 listings free"--you'll pay no Insertion Fees whenever you list Auction-style and start pricing under $1!*

Get complete details on the new eBay fees and get ready to SELL!

Sincerely,

eBay Seller Team

*Up to a maximum of 100 listings per month

If it's an eBay listing with free shipping and a very low winning bid.

I believe paypal has a flat fee of $0.30, then depending on how much you received it will scale up.

x3. I never request payments to be marked as gift, although I do ask that they aren't made with a credit card.

i got him with some today, nature of the business.
worst was when my gf sent me money on paypal and they charged me a fee. i was kinda pissed because she was next to me, it seems like its unfair to take money foor a transaction of the person whos next to you.
