What is your favorite sipping tequila? - Page 2

Has anyone here tried a Mexican Boilermaker? You take a bottle of corona and very slowly pour the tequila right up to the rim. If you pour it too fast it will mix with the beer and probably will taste horrible, as long as you pour slowly the tequila will settle at the top, so your first gulp will be a shot and then beer as a chaser. Definitely not for just sitting back and sipping, but pretty good for a night out at the bar. You really have to watch yourself with these though, because you are basically getting two drinks with every beer.

I don't know tequila like I know beer, so take this for whatever it's worth (not much). But I am a big fan of Don Julio 1942, and as of today I haven't had anything better. I actually prefer it as a sipper over a lot of quality scotch (haven't really had a chance to get into bourbon yet), and its combination of agave, vanilla, chocolate, and honey flavors is pretty amazing. But seriously getting into tequila and exploring what's what is definitely on my list of things to do in the future.

I hate Patron, or Jose Cuervo, or any other cheap junk you get in bars around here. 1800 is mediocre but at least (somewhat) palatable. Too bad you can't find Don Agustin here easily, it's priced to compete with all of these and blows them away.

I have a definite favorite. I'm able to get it for about $20 on sale, which still isnt cheap but it is excellent. Not a fancy boutique name --- you know the name --- but this is a fantastic line: Jose Cuervo Tradicional Tequila Reposado. Delicious. People owe it to themselves to give it a try. It says limited production on it and is numbered - but I've been buying it for three years!
