Does anyone know how to convert this tube signal tester to a guitar amp?

I recently acquired this 50s Heathkit Signal Tester t-2, and I tried to plug in my guitar into the input, which turned out to be a Bad Move. I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction to modify it so it works as a guitar amplifier with a passive input, as they are supposed to have.

1. What on earth gave you the idea that it'd be a good idea to plug your guitar into this thing?

2. Why would you bother converting it into a guitar amp?

I mean I'm all about re-purposing something rather than throwing it away but this is kinda ridiculous.

It's very close to a 5C1, so your best bet is probably to just convert it to something like that. Biggest issues are likely the OPT, and the speaker coil.

What does "Bad Move" mean? What happened?

The vast majority of quarter inch jack inputs (all that i have run across except this, in fact) are passive. I thought it was an industry standard. If i converted this to a guitar amp, I would have a tube practice amp. Plus it made some pretty sweet sounds when I plugged it in, at first.

The Bad Move meant that the second time I plugged it in, I was electrocuted. Not badly, but enough to hurt. I think there was a grounding problem though. Because I wasn't electrocuted the first time, before I took it apart.

What is wrong with the speaker coil? Wrong resistance?

Electrocuted - Definition and More from the Merriam-Webster Dictionary

Really, you might want to figure out what you are doing before you start randomly connecting and disconnecting things.

In the interest of preserving eidlyn's life I'm closing this thread. If he's not smart enough to stop and insists on continuing on this quest he can do it outside of Head-Fi.

eidlyn, seriously, stop before you do kill yourself.
