Saddest day of my life - Cosmo, the kitty in my avatar, passed away yesterday...(pics - 56k warning) - Page 4

Thread Starter
I want to thank you all for your expressions of support and sympathy. It means a lot to us both. Cosmo was a very special cat, and he and I had a special bond that formed the instant we set eyes on each other at the shelter. (I still marvel that I found such an incredible cat at a shelter. It still kind of boggles my mind. I've often wondered how he came to be there.)

Unfortunately, even though Cosmo is gone, the nightmare continues for us. We have three other cats, and one of them, Nicky, is FeLV positive. We have had our other two cats tested and immunized, which will help protect them, but we cannot adopt another until Nicky is gone, either through finding him another home, or his time finally comes. It may be years before I can look for another one, which makes the loss of Cosmo even more heartbreaking. He was the best companion I ever had, and I miss him terribly.

Again, thanks to you all during an incredibly difficult time.

So sorry to hear about your loss. Losing a loved pet is such a hard and something that I too have gone through. Be strong and try to aim that missing love at another soon-to-be fortunate pet.

RIP Cosmo.

BTW I want to thank you for this thread. In a couple of weeks we are moving from an apartment, where our cats were always indoors to a home we just purchased where they may be spending some time outside. Of course with the outdoors there is the chance another cat, possibly FeLV positive may come into contact with our cats. We hadn't really thought about it before but this thread reminded us that it would be a good idea to have them immunized and that will happen. Who knows, by sharing you may have saved the lives of two other cats who are very dear to me.

Boy people's pets really know how to pull on their heart strings. I must say he looks like he was quite a beautiful boy. I also have a calico colored female cat with not quite as much white as Cosmo had, but she is a longhaired tabby-wandered up to our back door one day-had her spayed after she hung around about six months. It would devestate my teenage sons if she passes away and their living at home still. She is about five or six years old-hope she can remain around quite a few more years. Sorry about your loss.

I'm really sorry to hear about your loss. Cosmo was most certainly a beautiful cat, and from the your description, a very loving cat as well. You're fortunate to have so many fond memories and wonderful pics to look back on. Also, please do keep in mind that to the extent that your loss of Cosmo was the saddest day in your life, you should consider yourself even more fortunate.

Sorry for Your Loss

Beerguy,

We lost your little girl last year. I still miss her, but it has gotten better. Cosmo was really a good looking fella. My thoughts go out to you.
