iPod/LoD/Amp setup vs anything else?

I might be looking into getting a better portable source, for pure sound quality... Now, I've noticed that a LOT of people around here use iPods, with an LoD connector, to a portable amp.

Is there anything better or comparable? I already have a portable amp, and would prefer a clean line out vs something with a good HP out EQ/SQ. I'd also like to run FLAC files without having to Rockbox/jailbreak it.

Do you mean comparable to a LOD? The only other connection possible is from the headphone jack and the LOD is definitely better.

Nah, I mean any DAP/Portable setup that would work equally or better.

Creative makes a product with an LoD? I'm a big Creative fanboy, I'ma look into that.

Thanks for the list, appreciate it.

I'd add sansa fuze + LOD + amp to that list

Yea I would think about looking at the Creative or Fuze DAP/LOD list.
Read around and see if you can find someone to make you a good lod for a good price and you won't be disappointed.
