I cant seem to find any definitive info on this and i thought maybe you guys could answer this. I want to use optical out of my xfi to my dac. I could use the usb to the dac but I got some 96k audio i wanna listen too. So my question is... Will optical out from my xfi be pure or modified?

thanks!

+ Bit-Matched/Audio Creation mode. Should be pure~

In your audio player you are probably going to want to use the WASAPI plugin. Otherwise with Asio you need to resample in the player itself which means its no longer pure. (Vista)

Kernel Streaming is also a good option.

It all depends on the software involved prior to the optical out, as some output bit-perfect while others do not.
