STAX SR-4070 Replacing Pads

Hello!
I've just purchased a used pair of STAX SR-4070 and an Illusion ESC-1001. Wonderful sound! However i need an extension cable, and since i will buy it from outside europe i was just thinking about replacing the earpads too.
I think that the default one are a little gone, but i've never seen a new pair of 4070. the pads look like that:

Do you think it's worth to replace them ?
If yes is it easy to replace the earpads ? I dunno how to do it.
Can someone explain me ?

As far as I know you can use the 404 or 404 limited pads. At least that is what XXII did.

The SR-404 pads should fit straight on. Afaik they are the same ones..
By the way, it is not SR-4070 but 4070 (no SR-).

I'll go for them then! But noone told me if you think i SHOULD or SHOULD NOT replace them, looking at pics i mean

they look just like my 4070 pads, which where used for about 10 hours before I got them (or so I'm told). If it fits and gives a proper seal there is no need to change them. The 'ripply' look is also on brand new pads like I got on the 404LE.

Actually the more correct name is "4070 Monitors"

............

Try getting the 404LE pads the leatherpads are a bit more comfortable and I think they seal better.

Enjoy them, they are truly high end phones.... imo, the best closed ever made...

Not all sure about that!
The Stax website refer to "4070" and not "4070 Monitor".

I don't think you NEED to replace them but replacing them with SR-404LTD pads will definitely improve things...so why not?
