Active Speaker Cabling ?

Hi everyone,

I have bought myself a set of Active Speaker - AktiMate
It might not be very popular in here, but I have to say, it's well worthwhile for me to recommend this speaker for someone who looking for low-mid grade active speaker, other than just Audioengine A5!

Alright, so now the cabling issue...
Since this is active speaker, I need Power Cable, interconnection cable and speaker cable (from the left speaker to the right speaker).

I find the sound a bit thin, I tried it with my USBDAC, direct line out from discman and discman + per-amp, it still sound a little thin overall, just a little.
I listen to pop, rock, soul r&b mainly, just something both you and me would normally listen to, very little classical.

So I want to upgrade all the cables for the speaker,
first of all I don't have a huge budget (lol), so I am not looking for something expensive...

Interconnections: I am using a really cheap un-brand interconnection from eBay (about £5), this might be once of the weakest link in my system,
I want to have something that can provide a thicker and warmer sound without mudding up or upset the overall balance of the speaker, like..going further to the highs and digging deeper to the bass
What interconnection cable that around £20 ~ £30 can help to give it thicker and warmer sound?

Speaker cable: same idea with interconnection, also tight on budget..£30 for 2M long would be nice!

Power cable: Since I based in the UK, there aren't much choice of factory power cable that I can choose, I can DIY some power cable with UK MK plugs, I don't know what makes a good power cable but again, if something cheap and cheerful would suit me really well, I am think about £6 or £7 per meter would be nice

Lastly, I am not using any isolation feet at this moment, is it better to use wood block or metal feet for the speakers, if I want warmer and accurate sound?

Thanks a lot!!

If you're looking for warmth, buy a graphic equalizer and tune it to suit your ears.

You could also try more euphonic speakers and, possibly, a warm valve amp to drive them.

Another option is repositioning the speakers in the room. Room interaction plays a large part in the sound - moving them around might give you what you want. Don't buy the isolation stuff, either, unless the speakers are visibly moving or unstable.

But don't bother with cables. No significant difference has ever been measured between cables. Further, people only hear the difference when they know what cable they're listening to. If people don't know what they're listening to they cannot hear a difference between cables.

I totally understand what you mean, thanks!

Buying an equalizer probably won't be the way out for me, since there's no such space for me put the machine and I personal don't like the 'EQ-ed sound'

Repositioning - yeah I do find that different listening place and differernt position of the speaker does make a HUGE different to the sound, I fiddled with it just now and it is now better

But still, I want some feet for the speaker because I want them to sit a bit higher on my desk. Might just get some cheap isolation feet to make it sit higher

Cables - I do notice some sonic differences when I change the IC cable, so I think this is worthwhile to be upgrading, but well, since I'm tight on budget, I'd probably get some DIY stuff....
