Hi,

I need a pair of closed cans to listen at work, in the office, where I'm not alone (it's not MY personal office...).
I listen by the output socket of a Denon DCD1500AE cd player, i.e. I don't have (and I won't have) a dedicated hp amp.
Cans have necessarily to be closed, so that I don't disturb my colleagues, but isolation is NOT the first criterion of choice, I mean I don' t need an absolute, perfect isolation: I ususally don't listen at very high volumes and moreover I must be able to hear my telephone ringin'... and by the way my colleagues are very quiet .
I pointed my attention on Shure SRH440s (with 840's pads) and Sennheiser HD380, for several reasons: I've read positive comments on them, I've found good occasions for them both used (saving some money is never an inconvenience) , I seem to understand that they don't necessarily need an hp amp...

Which of the two contenders do you advise, keeping into account my "boundary conditions" beside overall sound quality ?

If you ask, I may tell you how and why I selected these two: they're not the only ones I thought of, but I've discarded (or overshadowed) some others for several reasons, ranging from simple difficult availibility here in Italy to the fear of... too much bass, and to budget, as you can guess*.
Anyway, I'm open to different suggestions.

thanks, ciao

*but the price of used SRH440 or HD380 is not a top boundary of my budget: I can accept spending some more money if you convince me it's worthwile
