Does Color Laser have sharper output? Does
the print or graphics look better? Thank you for any info...Rick

What are you planning to use the printer for?

I still keep an aging Samsung B&W laser around for general work. But when I want good color, I send out to print services.

Most of them are affordable and you get output from their ridiculously expensive printers for a few bucks.

I will be printing letterhead + business cards mostly....

In general yes. Graphics def laser, photos ink jet can be pretty decent but not cost effective. Also, it depends on the source graphic, vectors graphics will be best & raster graphics needs higher resolution & requires sharpen. If your source is poor, laser wont make it any sharper. I also find normal laser paper to be superior to ink jet.

For small runs:
Business cards, you can look online. I seen some places will print them for free initially. Like 100-300 cards. Some have packages for free cards and letterhead.

Letterhead, I would use for decent ink jet and get quality paper.

For large runs:
Find local print shop.

Just another price comparison for you: my local printshop does 1000 business cards, single side, B&W, design included, for $35 (Cnd).

I wouldn't print business cards at home. Some people won't take anyone seriously if their business card has perforated edges. Snobby, but that's how it is.

Seconded. Office Depot can make 'em with raised ink pretty cheaply, I'd recommend that method.

If you compare a $300 laser to a $300 inkjet, the laser is preferable for businesses or individuals that need quick and low-cost-per-page printing, and inkjet creates more attractive full color artwork, but it's slower and the cost-per-page is generally higher. If you're printing lots of documents, go with the laser, if you're printing lots of artwork, go with the inkjet.

Uncle Erik: point well taken

I do have an inkjet and black laser so perhaps I will be okay. Upon close inspection, the inkjet does "spread" a little. Would a heavier weight paper help.

Lasers use dry toner that has ionic charges. Ink is well... ink. It dries out after time. You have to use cartridges right away before it dries.
