Hi Everyone,
I'm selling my Singlepower Audio PPX Extreme (Revision B - "January 2008" printed on circuit board) tube headphone amplifier. This Unit is in excellent shape and has NO issues. It has recently been upgraded - see threads about the question of safety with Singlepower amps - by the Bolder Cable Company in Colorado. They were very familiar with the potential "problems" of these units, and this one was given a brand new custom made power transformer (a retro blue color - can be covered by the original black cover) and a few other fixes and tweaks to improve it and make it worry free - (not that I ever had a problem with it, but when I read that people were worried that they might explode, I figured I should have mine checked - better safe than sorry....
It has been VERY well cared for. I purchased it directly from Mikhail at Singlepower in November of 2008.
The unit sounds wonderful! I am selling it because I just got a new pair of speakers that have a sensitivity of 101db! - Zu Druid. (My previous speakers were only 87db). Now I can sell my solid state integrated amp and use a Manley Stingray integrated amplifier for my speakers AND my headphones, and keep things simple (and save some money). I just never listened to my headphones enough - which is good for YOU; you get a great amp that is just broken in, but hardly used at all.
I have the original box, instructions, all tubes, etc.
It is the more recent Revision B circuit - 14amp - with Black Gate cathode capacitors.
The price new was $1495 - (Mine was a mint demo unit that Mikhail used for a show, so it was $1150) plus $200 for two 5998 output tubes, $80 for two 2C51 driver tubes, $99 for a 2C51 Adapter. It also came with a set of 6AS7 output tubes, which were included with the unit - the total was $1874 retail. I spent $375 in August 2009 for the check and upgrades from Bolder Cable Co - mine was one of the first to be upgraded when the news broke on the forums about the transformer safety issue. This brings the retail value new to $2250. Of course, this unit is not new, and I received a discount when I bought it.
Ok, enough of boring you.... I am asking for $1190 OBO. I'm trying to price this for quick sale.
Please call me at 508.325.2612 or email at strung(at)comcast.net with any questions.
Thanks for looking!!
Stephen.
