Need some help diagnosing my iPod Touch's problem.

Ok, today I dropped my iPod in the hall at school. Some really... Large... Person stepped on it, picked it up and walked off with it until someone who heard that I lost my iPod saw her playing around with it. Long story short, there's a huge crack on the screen of my iPod touch 1st gen, but it's still touch sensitive. Am I in need of a new digitizer, or is there a separate glass? Also, if I'd buy one from China, which is significantly cheaper (About $14 shipped), would it be less touch sensitive? Any help is appreciated.

A co-worker of mine ordered a kit online to replace the glass on his iPhone. He claims that it's as good as the glass it came with, though it was "a bitch" to put on.

Would you know if the kit had a digitizer? And yes, it's supposed to take 1.5hrs. It sounds like a good learning experience though.

I texted him (my guess is he is at a bar and won't know WTF I am asking).
