I think I ruined my pico's input slot from the tension of my ALO sxc lod cable. I will be sending my pico for repair. But any suggestions on how to properly setup my ipod5.5, LOD, and pico?

If you can, i'd recommend making your own LOD and correctly angle things to put as little tension as possible on everything. Theres a few people on head-fi that make you one, try the sale forum or googling if you dont get any luck there. Maybe the DIY forum? Else you could try rubber bands or zip ties around the cable to forcefully bend it more so less tension is on the ends of the cable?

I know a guy who makes his own custom ultra low profile LOD. He custom mold the plastic LOD connector and uses thick silver cryo wire to order. So if you need it a certain length or a certain angle he can make it. I got one and it's the best piece of equipment I own. They are really high end quality pieces. He guarantees them for life too. PM my for his contact info.

I got no soldering experience in my life. I am nimble handed though; how many burns and scars will it take to figure ou? xD

Yeah that is basically my LOD up here just its the copper and silver version with the black caps. (came free with my pico from the FS forum). And I had thought I hit the jackpot in getting it! So I should retire the LOD? thats too bad.

hmm...to attempt an LOD. Oh, is a female LOD a reasonable option(and getting a mini-to-mini)? or is that impractical?

Yea since you have a portable setup I think one thing that people don't really think about is the stress that you're putting on your input jacks due to custom cables and whatnot. It doesn't really matter if you're using a Mini to mini cable that's "too" long or adequate but when you're spending a lot on your setup I'd suggest to make sure that everything is going to be a snug fit so you don't accidentally damage the system to to a cable being too long; or in the worst case it's too short and you put stress trying to hook everything up.

I have had several LOD's from ALO and used them on a lot of different amps w/ no problems. You should be able to pre-bend the wires to accommodate your portable amp.
