That looks like a LEMO connector:

Turning it into something much smaller than 18 gauge before it makes it to the pins would be my guess.

With a stranded wire, you can snip strands to pare the wire down to the size you need.

Yeah, it's similar, but it's made by ODU and isn't compatible with Lemos.

its not the lemo connector, its a variation on the ODU minisnap connector; guess it was OEM, I found the exact one in their catalogue, but at a glance its not there on the site. check them out though; some awesome stuff for our purposes; if only they were being put to use instead of some other connectors that seem to be becoming standard
