Having fun now with these IEMs. Still would not rate them higher than the W2s for now, but not comparing just listening to the ATs. Will do more head to head listening later. Even the little bit of hiss on the Amp3 isn't problematic when the music is playing.
Glad you finally got the right fit. I think you'll find the Amp 3 superb with the CK 10's.

I can't take them out now. I switched back to the Sony X, Neil Young's Long May You Run never sounded so good. Goosebumps. I love these things (hope my W2s aren't listening). Anyway, even a brief 15-minute audition with comfortable tips is enough to know that the CK10s are going nowhere, and as planned, I will keep the W2s as well. A very happy camper. Thanks to newegg for dropping the price and to whomever it was that re-discovered these phones and posted about it here. I can't remember if it was you Vorlon1 or someone else. Warren Zevon's Nighttime in the Switching Yard, more goosebumps. The synergy with the Sony X blows me away. One tick on the Clear Bass, that's it.

Glad you like them tstarn.

One think I love about the CK10, besides its sound, is its fantastic cable. That thing is really thick and durable, nothing like the one I had on the PFE. The jack is also great. The IEMs themselves are also pretty

All great points, I also love the cable and the build quality is undeniable. Overall, at this price, a true high-end bargain. Weird how it took me some fiddling around to get here. Oh, Baba O'Reilly blasting away. But I may need to rip it flac, sounds a little "watery" (damn the CK10s.)

Comfort issue solved. Thanks mp3. Shure tri-flanges amazingly comfortable, and you get a good plant with the tri-flanges. Excellent. Need to listen to my HP "audition" tracks. Now, I feel I can compare the phones on equal grounds. I know the CK10s were not made for Shure tri-flanges, but it works. Talking Heads' Making Flippy Floppy (Stop Making Sense) sounds right on the money. More to hear.

Also, not a hint, a scintilla, of sibiliance, on my toughest sibilance inducing tracks. So fit is critical in taming sibilance. If you are hearing ssssssing with these, it's because they are not inserted properly.
hmmm perhaps I may have to locate a pair for auditioning again, because I did recall hearing a bit of sibilance last time I had them using the stock small tips.

Well, I did too (unless I planted them partially in my brain, but that hurt). With the Shure tri-flanges, I can't even get any sibilance if I try. Never There, by Cake, another great headphone testing track is on now. Amazing detail, clarity.

Obviously, I am convinced that Vorlon1, AudioDwebe and Shigzeo are right, the sibilance is really a result of poor fit, not performance potential. Again, thanks to mp3 for solving the mystery for me. I think the material of the small silicones was abrasive or something, because the shures are smooth as silk and it's like they are not even there. And you know how tri-flanges can somehow be bothersome (causing pressure). For whatever reason (design?) not the case with the CK10s.

It's good to know that other people experienced sibilance with a shallow insertion. I had the same problem with another pair of IEMs, but I thought it might have just been my ear shape.

In the case of the CK10s, it's definitely the case, not sure about other IEMs. I have not had it happen before. I have had issues with bass not being present after shallow insertion, but not sibilance. But it sure could be the case.

Well, with newegg's deal, you can always send it back, which will cost you $30 (restocking) plus shipping. Or you can sell them in FS for $185 or so. But, you will not want to send them back, so the issue of testing will be be moot. It's cheap to test stuff out, the expensive part is keeping stuff.

Also, your previously owned IEMs were not exactly budget phones, so sell those Atrios and save up for the CK10s.

Well, if someone would buy them. I just can't fund it right now. Nobody wants an A818 and Clip at $40 each or the Atrios for $90 which just boggles my mind to be honest. Must sell before I can purchase.
