You may also want to consider the JVC HA RX700.

HD201 (plugged in now while typing an listening to The Mars Volta) are in some way a strange headphone, for me they have been a hate (first) and love (now) affair. They are balanced to my ears, but the bass presence is not their main strength, so if yuo're looking for bass heavy sound they're not for you. The bass is there, it's just a bit more "polite" than some other cans in this class. And they're not very sensitive, a powerful source is reccomended, they don't sound so strong straight out of a DAP/CD player. I like them, as I've said, for their balaced sound, to my ears they give the best if they're not played at very loud volume and if they're coupled with a warm sounding source. For just 20 Euros they can't be beat IMO as cheap closed phones.

I've had the XD200 you posted too. They can be acceptable for watching movies, but I found them too veiled sounding for music (but I can be wrong, I've always listened to them unamped). I gave them to my girlfriend about a year ago.

Regards
K.

thanks for posting, so now i know sony xd200 is bad idea for music, JVC HA RX700 looks good but i dont have any offer in my country your rewiev sound good, HD201 is good but
design is very poor for me (this is not very important) this headphones will be used in home mainly so this is bad if they dont have bass. HD201 is by leader now but i'll waining for more advices.

kurtzi's can you say something about comfort?

Amazon.com: Shure SRH240 Professional Quality Headphones (Black): Electronics
+1. Also, the DT 235 is $49 at Headroom. Great company and headphone. It's really comfortable (velour pads!!!). Recommended.

I'm guessing the DT235 is more comfortable.

And like I said, the DT 235 is $58 WITH shipping. Do you live outside of the US?

Very good, one of the most comfortable can I own. I also suggest, If you're going to stretch your budget, to take a look to iHelp's reccomendation. Some times ago I had the chance to listen to DT235, only a brief listening, but I liked them and they were comfortable.

You could also look at the sennheiser HD 218's. My girlfriend has them and they sound pretty good unamped, but you have to like bass because they are pretty heavy in the bass deparment.

I've had HD201 in active use for four years now. I haven't owned other headphones to which I could compare them, but to my ears they sound very good, especially considering the low price.
