Is there any fee to simply attend the event?

No admission fee for the general public to attend. The only fee to exhibit is the cost of your suite, since most of the exhibitors show out of their suites. Those with very large setups occasionally exhibit from a conference room they rented. We really do tend to have more mom and pop businesses than the large name gear. Although we have some of that too.

I just find it way too wierd to have to rent a room to show my headphones and amps.
That said, you _could_ join us this weekend (1/23) at the DFW Headfi meet, and make a case in person. It would also help to understand the environment in how we tend to show gear, and, perhaps, bring out some of your goodies?
Oh, and our event won't cost you a dime, to look or to show.

My gear is pretty limited at this point, as I've moved on to speaker systems. Just one of the first p2p SOHA's now. I've gotten rid of everything else.
It would be hard to set up 20-30 hi-fi systems without having some sort of separation (which you can get around that problem with headphones), so in our case the suite route works the best. Most are venders who can write off the rooms as a business expense, so it's not an issue with them.
If you're in the area when the show is on, please come by and check out some of the setups. Bring your own music to listen to as well if you want. Everyone is very accommodating.
