High Energy Acoustic Instrument Music Recommendations?

Thread Starter
Hi there,

I've recently discovered Rodrigo v Gabriela (Mexican Guitar Duo, ex-metal band memebers) and am currently searching for similar music...

I'm looking for something with non-electronic instruments (wind, percussion, acoustic etc) that has a high energy and a nice beat/rythum. Well recorded with a nice soundstage/stereo image also. Vocals optional.

Any recommendations?

Thanks

Paul

You might like “Friday Night in San Francisco” by Paco de Lucia, John McLauglin, and Al diMeola.

pretty much all flamenco music that contains "bulerias"

i recommend vincente amigo's first album "de mi corazon al aire"

although the album does contain some solo guitar work there is plenty of palmas (rhythm clapping) and background percussion as well.

heres a popular vicente amigo rumba YouTube - vicente amigo - tres notas para decir te quiero

also paco de lucia's album "almoraima" is groundbreaking flamenco work as well

Larry Coryell's album "Spaces" w/ Miroslav Vitous, John McLauglin and Billy Cobham. Some of it is electric, but in an amplified acoustic kind of way. Other parts are acoustic. Wonderful guitar interplay. Larry Coryell: Spaces : Music Reviews : Rolling Stone

Another one that I think is all acoustic is Coryell's "The Restful Mind" with Ralph Towner. More of the same kind of stuff, very pleasant. http://www.kiosek.com/coryell/cormore.html#restful
