Yes it is. It also gets used in many movies and TV shows. You've doubtlessly heard the main theme of O Fortuna many times.

But the part that gets played in those settings is just a part of the entire piece, though admittedly the most exciting part of the entire piece. And sometimes in those cases the piece has been reorchestrated and isn't always true to the original.

Definitely go for Rachmaninoff's Second and Third. I performed the Second last year, and I assure you that it is pretty awesome. :)
