FS - 1 x Sony MDR-SA5000 SPEAKER / DRIVER

Basically, I bought a set of MDR-SA5000 with a known fault - one driver didn't work. Turned out to be open-circuit, and I was incapable of fixing it.

So, here we have the other, fully working driver, now up for sale.

However, I have no idea of the value of it.

Please make me an offer. I'll post anywhere due to the incredibly low weight of it (although I will obviously make sure it is well packaged for it's new owner) - please let me know how much you are willing to pay and I'll work out the best value shipping I can to your destination.

They are 'twist fit' - they literally twist and pull to be removed, and to refit you just push and twist the opposite direction.

This is the RIGHT SIDE DRIVER from my pair that is for sale. Don't know if that makes a difference or not to anyone

I was intending just to sell the driver at this point... while I do have the headband, and a set of frayed earpads, I don't have a complete set of screws to reattach the driver capsules to the earpieces. There are 8 screws in total.

Condition of the headband is functional. They are definitely not in showroom condition, however with the screws it would be possible to rebuild them.

I also do not have the original cable. I do have a spare HD650 cable which could be soldered on.

I was considering modding these and/or transplanting other drivers into them, just never found the time to do so.

The part number is 1-542-603-11 (154260311) and I've seen them between about $70 and $110 new.

Hope this helps guage your offers.

It's just come to my attention that actually, the driver I was sold as working (the one which I was selling in this thread), is infact physically damaged. I removed the driver from the earcup (a simple case of turning a plastic housing and pulling outwards), and it's apparent that there is a hole in the driver.

I've just refunded a payment to a member who offered me a very fair price for the driver, and I'm sorry I didn't pick up on this beforehand. The driver still produces 'sound', but I've no idea how well it compares to a proper, new driver.

Therefore, I'm removing this from sale and throwing it in the bin. I'll probably list the headband and stuff at a later date.

A bit p**sed off that I only examined the faulty driver (dead / open circuit) when they arrived, and didn't remove the working one, as obviously at the time I'd have returned them or at least expected some form of compensation. The physically damaged driver looked fine through the earpiece mesh, it was only when fully removed that the damage was obvious.

Apologies to those who were interested, and I won't be buying any more 'repairable' cans on here again

Hello,

Just stumbled upon this thread. Erm I don't know really know what to say because they sounded completely fine up until the left driver cut out. I'm pretty amazed because the functioning driver sounded normal to me. All I can say is that I'm very sorry and I sold them to you to the best of my knowledge. Apologies.
