Thanks @ Ziemas. I did indeed confuse the two comments...

Ok thanks guys. I'm getting hold of Sennheiser to see what they think and with Amazon's guarantees it will be quite easy to sort out I think.

Hello all... Well I just wondered if theese were genuine:
Amazon.com: Sennheiser IE 7 In-Ear Monitor Earphones: Electronics
I just bought theese (from that exact link too) and I live in the Vietnam at the moment (a friend shipped it to me for a fee).

Why I am asking is because I got really really dissappointed with the sound. I was expecting a whole lot with all the reviews I read about it. I have a pair of Sennheiser CX300 to compare with but... They sound almost the same or the ie7 doesn't impress at all. I read that it has a huge soundstage, could someone explain it to me clearer? I am sorry for my Swenglish but I am originally from Sweden so errr... Well... Bad English. Also I don't notice more bass coming from the ie7's.

One thing I can think of though is that the CX300 is burnt in (well they are 2 years old and I use them pretty much for PSP, Iphone, Walkman). Is there much difference between burnt in and new? Also I am lucky with fitting because my ears are those "model" ears fit the inears out of the box, don't need to swap out the tips. So it is nothing wrong with the fitting or sound isolation, but the CX300 sit more comfortable and are alot easier to put on than the ie7.

Could you guys please help me shed some light over this? My friend in the US said that Amazon never sells fake stuff etc. But I just don't know, is the ie7 such a letdown? Sorry for this my salary here isn't high so those 190$(169+shipping to VN) costed me a arm and a leg so I just scared I got fake ones. (They got fake ones here in VN selling for 25$).

i bought from that seller too.. apparently they are not an authorized seller of sennheiser products and so the sennheiser warranty will not be honored. but i got mine and have had no problems with them at all.. and i don't think the ie7 disappoint at all. read all the reviews and decided to get them and was not at all in the least bit let down.

also as to your question about soundstage, this link might help to clear up any terminology.

Well I got my money back so I'm happy. Still interested to hear whether you think these are real or not so I've attached some pictures. Let me know if I should take pictures of specific things. Click the thumbnails to see the pics; they're quite big.

it's kind of hard to tell from the photos, but the plug where the cable terminates, and also the one near the splitter look a little funny (but it may be the angle of the camera). Anyway, do these two connectors look the slightest bit transparent (can you see any internal components inside them?) From the photos, they look completely opaque, and if that's the case, they're definitely fake.

Yes, the jack connector and splitter are completely opaque... But the little piece extending from the actual earphones is slightly transparent...

So what does that mean if they're fake? They still sound good to me. Do they come from the same factory or what? Are they made up of similar parts?

What does it mean if they're fake? It means it's not Sennheiser's product. They could very well come from the same factory, or they could be complete & utter trash, sounding nothing like the original. It's impossible to say. Honestly, I'd rather just pay the premium for something I know is genuine.
