The title of that TV show was exactly what you got when you tuned in. People who were amateurs in singing and comedy trying to make it to the big time. Fast Forward to......American Idol.... when I heard the name of this TV show I thought that it would be about people that rescued people out of fires and stuff like that. Just because someone can sing does not make them an idol to me. Why don't they use the word amateur in the title? I do not even watch the show or buy any of the music that comes out of it.

How society has slipped over the years to bestow the word idol on someone!!!

Dude, teen "Idols" have been around since Ricky Nelson back in the 50's. That is not a new term. Someone that pulls people from a burning building is a hero, not an idol.
