I will endeavor to makre controlled, timed, tests for posting by next week at latest.

As for manufacturer's ratings, they simply lidt all "audio" as 10 hours of playback...

Lisytening from Line-out directly....

On a whim I wondered on how to compare, at levels quieter than max volume, which is rated at 120 dB on this device, the SQ of the headphone out port/output vs the direct line-out port/output with headphones, rather than an outboard amp/ or amp/DAC...

I only had a Radio Shack nearby so I goty a Radio Shack brand extension cable with inline volume attenuation control to allow for volume level decreasing below maximum volume limit on the line-out port/output.

Why?

There are two different opamps in each output channel... The Headphone Output has a (will fill in later) and the direct line-out ouput has a (will fill in later) (need to confirm specs) and - can at this point confirm higher SQ (cleaner sound, less distortion, more bass, more crisp) from the direct line-out output port evewn via a 9.99 USD part. I will be lookming into getting a higher quality extewnsion cable with an inline volume attenuation wheel in the near future.

Suggestions welcome... So are the thoughts and opinions of others on this path of exploration....

Can you link me to the inline volume cable you bought for the lineout?

My suggestion is to take the ZUNE is more safty. Because the headphone out to me both ZUNE and T51 are the same league. If you employ the line out of T51,you need to hook to a decent AMP, and also, if you have a decent AMP with the ZUNE, it can also present you decent music.

ZUNE is a mature products.

well I've ordered the s:flo2 and look forward to it arriving. I'm thinking that after I've sold my zune I'll get a sansa clip+ as a lightweight player as well.

Thats a good strategy (the Clip+) as it has the guts of a Fuze, and I picked up a Fuze on a friends reccomendation, and I am finding it a very nice and musical "take-everywhere-who-cares-if-it-gets-lost-stolen-broken-plus-it-sounds-good" player!

It's also fun to keep the music on a microSDHC card and just pop them between players.

I think the thing that's the most surprising when reading these threads is how happy people are with the screen. I just assumed AMOLED was always better than LCD, but I guess there are some really nice LCD screens out there.

Yea the T51/s:flo2 is getting nothing but top notch, positive reviews from the forums in terms of sound quality. Basically if the UI got astoundingly better along with longer battery life, it would be one the best overall DAP on the market right now.

chinese pmp

it seems, that "ainol" is very recognized brand, quite good is "ask" - ainol with better display."ramos" is another good brand;they have 2 models worth of investing: T12 and T11TE the 2nd is touch, the first - older model(last year)
is non-touch with click-wheel menu, very well made;both models have very good audio.T11TE can play full HD movies.Maximum display size is 5inch,but you may find bigger in "ainol" line and other brands("boss" - 7 inch). All go for about 100 bucks or less - near the source. And the source is Shenzen.
