SOLD
Hi everyone.
Up for sale is my trusty Keces HA-171. I bought this amp on 15 October, 2009 from Acoustic Fun. The price of a new one to Australia is 381USD which is about 410AUD. I found it pretty hard to depart with this amp as it is my first desktop amp and we all get attached to such things
. The reason for sale is simple – I have too much gear.
If you are unfamiliar with Keces, they are mostly known for the DA-151 and the DA-131 to a lesser extent. Both dacs are pretty popular on Head-Fi for their performance and build quality. All Keces products are really nice piece of artwork as you can see by the internal pictures.
Key Points!
The HA-171 is a Class AB amp that sounds pretty good for the price. It is dead quiet, even with my Shure SRH840 unlike the Little Dot MkV. It has a gain switch on the front panel unlike the LD MkV. There is no channel imbalance at 8 o'clock which is to say pretty damn impressive. You can have 2 active inputs and switch between them with the switch on the front panel, unlike the LD MkV where you'd hear the other input. There is also a loop out and a pre amp out. There is no noise at all with my Shures with no source, high gain and maximum volume. Relative to the Heed Canamp, the Keces amp is able to drive K701 quite well with a pleasing level of bass. In fact I much preferred the HD650 on the Keces as the dark headphone didn’t need the extra warmth that the Canamp has.
My unit has one peculiarity as one of the channel leds is borked. I didn’t feel like sending the entire unit back to Acoustic Fun for a bloody led. Condition is as new – it seems all Keces products have some slight marks on the acrylic. You can’t see it unless you shine a light on it and at the right angle.
Asking price is 300AUD 290AUD 280AUD 260AUD including shipping within Australia. I'm happy to ship worldwide for an additional fee. I accept a bank transfer, paypal and cash if you would like to arrange to meet up in Brisbane. I have the original box.

This is not my picture but is a pic of the internals.
