Actually, If it were my choice I would place the amp on top of the DAC for better cooling.

up to down: DAC_1, CD Transport, MKVII (all same lenght)

I don't think the MKVII+ is longer than the standard-version.

I have the MKVII (no plus) and the DAC_I: same case dimensions. And yes, I've put the amp on top.
Thanks for the pics.

That's weird. I double checked the dimensions and the MK VII+ is only 10.83", while the DAC_1 and CD T are both around 14". I looked at the listed VII dimensions and that's listed at 10.83" as well, but apparently it's the same length as the DAC_1 in reality. Guess it's a typo?

Anyway, thanks for the confirmations. This is a really dumb thing to get worried about, I know. At this point I'm a little too obsessed with perfect aesthetics for some reason.

P.S.

Thats one nice lookin stack, 4L3X =]

No worries! I too choose this setup because is nice looking! BTW, my old MKV was a bit shorter than the DAC_I

I just got an email from David that the amp will be available on the 24th. I'm not sure if that means my amp will ship on that date or not, but will post when I find out.

Bowedtoothdoc,

Are you planning on using your MKIII as a pre-amp for your MKVII? I have heard good things about that, for tube lovers anyway.

I am also curious how that would stack up against the LD MKVI+, which is the LD balanced tube amp.

I am tempted to wait on buying the MKVII, and saving up for the MKVI+. Do you know anyone that owns one of these? I just read a good review on it.

I am going to the LD forums next, but just wanted to ask you too.

Thanks,
Matt

Matt,
Actually I haven't even considered that, but definitely sounds interesting.
My initial reason for purchasing the MKVII+ was to try a balanced setup with my K701's.

Matt,
I have heard good things about the MKVI+ as well. Apparently they did away with the fan from the previous model which was a common complaint and made some other changes which affect the power output from the amp.
Other than that I don't know much more, but I'm sure you can get more answers on the forum or from David @ Little Dot.

Thanks Bowedtoothdoc,

Exactly the reason I am getting the MKVII+. I am just concerned about the solid state sound, as I have only had tube amps. I hope it isn't harsh or dry. From what I have read, it isn't, so I am hopeful.
If it is, I am planning on adding and LD MKIII as a pre-amp, which would add that magical tube sound.
Let us know how it goes !
Thanks,
Matt

Also, I wonder if David would be willing to stick the MKVII+ into the longer DAC_1 case upon request? (For max stackness =])
Dac_1 and the Vll Vll+ are all the same size, ignore what you read on there site as it is wrong.

I wonder how this setup works with a AKG 701, how much did you pay for it, shipping included?
