Upgrade or not ?

I have the Walkman S716F. I'm very pleased with it. DSEE, Clear Stereo provides more detail, VPT provides more 3D sound-stage (Matrix) and live performance effect (Live, really cool), Clear Bass help me adjust the bass... blah. But I'm thinking Upgrading to :
- ZEN
- Sansa Clip, Fuze
Do they provide a sound stage as wide as VPT ? Should I upgrade ?

If you play music files of 320 kbps or of better quality or if you're planning on doing so upgrade. You can get a good S728 or S729 for less than 100$.

I hope you have good headphones.

Yeah I have Ksc75, and about to recable it. But I heard people says Sansa is the best player, wonder it's better than Walkman ? But I really love the VPT on Walkman, the Matrix ain't distort the music with hisses much ( the others do ) and the detail the DSEE gives. I don't know if a sansa would do better ?

Sansa wouldn't do better but soundstage improves. Nonetheless, I think the soundstage is as spacious as your ksc75's have and it won't get any better with another player. Additionally, I know this is cliche but also true: sansa clip is great without eq and worse than S series with it. I am talking about clip not clip+ 'cause I haven't heard that.

I do believe the sony s series ("old" one) sounds better than the fuze/clip, if that helps at all. I just didn't really enjoy the fuze as much, though that's not to say it sounds bad. Though the older fuze can be rockboxed and play FLAC, if that's your thing.

Sony has better SQ than the Sansa dap's. Without the EQ the Sony is "slightly" better sounding than a Fuze or clip. Put the EQ to use and the Fuze and clip are blown away.

So I should keep my Sony S716, instead of switching to Sansa ?
And can you guys recommend some good player under 100$ ?

if you are happy, don't waste your money 'grading' anywhere up or down.

CLIP is only the best bang to the money player. that not means it is best in term of sound quality among many other players.

I think you don't need to swith to other DAPs if your SONY is still working. if you really want to have some thing changed, my suggestion is to upgrade your phone with that budget.

Yes, I'm Happy, but I'd be more if find something makes me happier. But guess I'm gonna keep it.

I have too many times decided to upgrade to something which will make me happier only to find that either a: the thing is worse than what I came from, or b: that it wasn't worthwhile for other reasons.

If you have the money and you need to buy it, by all means do so, but don't get caught up in a buy buy buy mentality here or you will be making this same speech in a couple of years.

Hello ?

I'd actually suggest upgrading your headphones, as you'll notice quite a difference in sq after you do. I have Koss ksc75's, and the sq is good - but there's better to be had.
