Craigslist...scam?

So, I listed our old car on craigslist yesterday and I already have a message.

First, they asked "Is it still available".
Then, I answered "Yes, still avilable".

Her response was this:
"Hi,
I'm glad it's still for sale. I'm going on a vacation to London but I will instruct my assistant to prepare and mail you your payment which I'm sure you will get it in about 4 - 6 business days. I'll add $20 extra for the delay. Money Order or cashier check is the means I can pay you with. If this is acceptable by you, Send me your info (i.e full name, mailing address and your phone number) so payment can be mail out immediately. I will also make arrangement for pick-up which will be after you must have received and cashed the payment.Happy New Year. Awaiting your info.
Thanks
Eve "

Does this seem like it could be a scam?

Thanks in advance,
Alex

Yes. While I'm not an expert in such matters, I'd want:
1. face to face contact with the buyer
2. certified cheque.

super scam

i listed things on craigslist and mostly got the same type of replies.anytime they ask for your address or say that they will take care of shipping and send their representative to pick it up, someone will scout your residence and look to rob you.their are alot of warnings about this if you google it.

Tell them that you would prefer waiting until they have returned to the States. If they tell you some reason that that is not possible, yes, it is a scam.

Not that you really need to do this test, it reeks of a scam already.

Rule #1 of Craigslist: If the city of London is mentioned in regards to an item not listed in that city, a scam is afoot.

soured?

their is a chance that she could be legit, but out of the 38 replies i got only 3 were real.most wanted to know about where you live and can their assistant come over to pick up.alot of the replies were worded in the same way, looked like they had been doing this all over(organized thieves).

I think if even one other person out there has experienced an email with all the things you mentioned, odds are they have an angle. And its not to see that you get an extra 20 bucks. That is just my experience on the web. Web scams are not known for originality. Except for that Prince in Nigeria, he is def. legit.

It is 100% a scam. This type of message is very common. I've gotten similar e-mails for like 3 different items I've posted for sale on craigslist.

From the craigslist about > scams page:

You can sidestep would-be scammers by following these common-sense rules:

* DEAL LOCALLY WITH FOLKS YOU CAN MEET IN PERSON - follow this one simple rule and you will avoid 99% of the scam attempts on craigslist.
* NEVER WIRE FUNDS VIA WESTERN UNION, MONEYGRAM or any other wire service - anyone who asks you to do so is a scammer.
* FAKE CASHIER CHECKS & MONEY ORDERS ARE COMMON, and BANKS WILL CASH THEM AND THEN HOLD YOU RESPONSIBLE when the fake is discovered weeks later.
* CRAIGSLIST IS NOT INVOLVED IN ANY TRANSACTION, and does not handle payments, guarantee transactions, provide escrow services, or offer "buyer protection" or "seller certification"
* NEVER GIVE OUT FINANCIAL INFORMATION (bank account number, social security number, eBay/PayPal info, etc.)
* AVOID DEALS INVOLVING SHIPPING OR ESCROW SERVICES and know that ONLY A SCAMMER WILL "GUARANTEE" YOUR TRANSACTION.

Should I respond to the person and tell them to go shove it?

Just leave it alone, less is more with these. I am not really familiar with CL but if they have any kind of admin you could send it to them.
