Balanced JVC HP-DX1000?

This is my 2d try to get some ideas about this- 1st time got no response.

Has anyone ever recabled JVC HP-DX1000 to balanced? If so, was the difference significant? If so, how? I know some cans take better to recabling than others, wondering where the JVC's fit in.

Same questions for Ultrasone Edition 9's if anyone knows about that.

Thanks

Is there nothing in the search feature about this? I know I've read something about a balanced Edition 9 on here; but yeah, nothing comes to mind about a balanced DX1000.

For what it's worth, I don't own the DX1000 or E9, but have owned a pair of Senn 650 and going balanced did make a huge difference for those phones.

I have re-terminated my DX1000's - kept the stock cable and attached a 4 pin XLR. I think the "stock" cable is fairly decent, certainly compared to other manufacturers cables. Can't comment on a recable, but I'm not inclined to do it. Yes, a night and day difference with Senns, and certainly worth the money/effort, but I'm happy with my pair of DX1000's as they are.

I have those 3 headphones. The biggest change was in the HD650. I have them with a RAL balanced cable. The vail went away, the soundstage got bigger and moreholographic.
The Edition 9 were recabled by APS. The bigger differences were in sound stage expansion and bass control. If you want the Edition 9 balanced you have to recable. Retermination does not work because the stock cable just have 3 leads at the 1/4" plug side sharing the negative between both channels. Believe me I tried it.

My DX1000 are stock. I could not find much information about going balanced so I decided to wait. I think APS has done just one pair and I coul dnot get much information form the owner.

The other one that really benefit going balanced was my D7000 to the point that currently are my favorite from my collection. Will see what happens when I receive the T1.

To all who replied, thanks. I recabled my Ed9's by APS too, and am overall very happy, although I think some bass quantity was lost in the process of gaining bass control. I still think they improved significantly and have no regrets.

It seems unanimous all around that Senns are the best candidates for the night/day difference when going balanced.

I'm happy to hear from DX1000 owners who are happy with the stock cable/termination. I love these cans as they are, and I was afraid I'd be faced with a tough decision if there was a split of opinion on the benefits of recabling/reterminating.

Again, thanks all - I think I'll stay unbalanced for the time being.
