Guitarists - My Vintage inspired Big Muff guitar pedal

Hi guys, thought I'd post some pics up for anyone who plays guitar. I have been busy building my own guitar pedal effects from BYOC (build you own clone kits). The BYOC kits are great and sounds really nice. I built my own and the designed a nice custom case. This particular pedal is a Big Muff clone from the early Triangle spec series. Man does it sound good! If you like guitar you should check them out.

I am also building a General Guitar Gadgets - Reverb pedal and BYOC Overdrive 2 pedal. Eventually I'll design myself a nice board of all my pedals.

Anyway here is my pedal I designed. I has been engraved on a CNC machine and designed to look a little vintage. I really wanted to keep it simple and metal based.

Looks great! I thought about making some from BYOC, but I'm an amateur and I don't play enough to make it worth building a bunch of pedals, so I just bought one of these: Amazon.com: Zoom G2.1U Guitar Effects Pedal with USB Interface: Musical Instruments

It has 9 effects modules which can be mixed and matched to produce all kinds of sounds, although I haven't tried anything other than the presets yet. Anyways, it's a great little peddle if you want to fool around with a bunch of different sounds. Not as much fun as DIY but thought I'd share in case anyone else is looking for an acceptable all-in-one.

Hey, cheers for the comment. Yeh I actually bought an earlier version of a similar multi effects zoom pedal when I first started. It is pretty good. I can only imagine the newer ones are better. I only decided to have a go at making my own as I could then pick and choose what I want, plus I can mod the sound to my tastes.

I'm gonna start building those as soon as I'm finished with the current project. Did you machine the casework yourself? Looks awesome, love the design!

Yeh it is worth it if you like effects. No i didn't machine it. It was done on a CNC machine, which I don't own. Glad you like it. I designed it to look a little vintage but simple and clean in design. I'll post up my new pedals when I have them engraved.

A quick write-up of the enclosure would be awesome - that's the biggest thing that's held me back from making one of these. Did you get them made by FPE or something?

awesome!! really great looking and i'm sure great sounding too, I used to use a big muff (my friends not mine) with my minimoog analogue bass synth, sounded FAT! thanks for the link I might have to check that out. funnily I hadnt even considered DIYing anything for my music gear, truth be told I havent found the time to play with it in months. a tube based or hybrid big muff would be sweet

Great work Mark, looks great - the best pedal I’ve seen. I might have to do one for my son, it wouldn’t be as fantastic as yours though

Sexy! Please tell me you push it through a Bluesbreaker or a Vox

Wow, that's great! I always wanted to do something like this, but never knew there were kits out there. Gotta try one sometime.

Hi guys, thanks for your nice comments! Yeh i managed to stumble across the BYOC website and thought id give one a go. I never really thought of making my own pedals, but it makes so much sense to do it. The kits are pretty easy to follow and fun too.

I'll explain how i did the case a bit later when i have time to write more.

cheers.
