I just transferred a pile of ripped CD's from the HDD of my laptop to a friends 160GB Ipod Classic, but when I go and play back the album or song it does playback but there is no cover art or photo of the album on the Ipod screen.

Did you use Itunes to sync your music?

I could have sworn there was a "sync album artwork" option but I can't seem to find it. And when you say transferred, you do mean you synchronised it right?

You need to transfer the songs to your friends laptop and import them into itunes, then your friend can sync his iPod with iTunes on his computer. You may be able to use Finder (mac) or Explorer (windows) to transfer the songs using the iPod as a HDD

Artwork embedded into the files? If not, then that may be your problem.

I've heard transferring album art is major issue in 3rd party software for syncing with Ipods, so if you're anal about your art Itunes is your best bet. It's sad that APPLE are so anal about Itunes being the only salvation for a lost soul using Ipod. I like Itunes, but I don't like when there is no DECENT 100% working in all aspects alternative.
