So, . .What state is your Head-Fi addiction at ?

I was just reading the thread about people with underpowered expensive headphones. Great reading. Shows the wide variety of viewpoints and experience this community has to offer. All the rationale seem (im)plausible if you look at it from a different perspective. As I drive along the freeways of Los Angeles today, I think it’s not that much different than all these Porsche drivers. Do they feel silly, is it ego, or are they waiting for the Autobahn upgrade? I think it’s just another manifestation of the Head-Fi addiction.

So I ask myself, what state is my head-fi addiction at? Well, my portable rig is a Sansa Clip > Mini3 > PK3. I just read that Boomana thinks a good budget rig is dap > mini3 > PK1, so I’m thinking, humm . . . PK1’s. ? . It reminds me of one of my favorite cartoons, where two lions are standing over a kill and one turns to the other and says, “I wonder what the fast ones taste like?” That’s where I’m at now; wondering what better sounds like. And slowly buying it. I don’t picture myself ever sneaking out late at night and going to the seedy parts of town to score some hot cd’s, or calling in ‘sick’ to use my new dac, but I wouldn’t rule out one day dreaming of an amp with tubes the size of 2 liter Pepsis.

So, . .What state is your Head-Fi addiction at ?

Main system is done. (seriously)

Still considering possible upgrades for portable system, though...

Once I'm as satisfied with my portable system as I am with my main system (I realize that this "satisfaction" will be relative, obviously), I will be done. Done done.

My obsession with audio began years ago at a young age. I've been all about good headphones since I was maybe 10 taking piano lessons, and eventually went on to receive a bachelors in music, all the while buying new and better gear.

Where is my addiction at? I just spent $280 today as my 1st purchase as a Head-Fier, and I'm already thinking of my next purchase. May my wallet forgive me.

I'm at the stage where I'm not hungry enough to move past the "budget" playground. Currently sitting around the $100-200 range for each piece of gear. I can hear the differences in more expensive gear, but it's not a justifiable step for me (yet). On the other hand, I'm awfully susceptible to peer pressure and this place is terrible for that

I just started and while I have only dropped a few hundred dollars to date. I am a musician and spent so much more in other Music Gear. I log into this site everyday and read and learn some more. This is as active a on-line community as many of the other music sites I frequent and people here are obsessed with quality audio gear. I am happy to be here and could say that I am hooked. Right now I am restricted by my Wallet and have much to learn. Like many folks here I tend to research and review everything to death before making a purchase - but I am practical when I finally do buy something. Like everyone here I want the best or at least close to the best. Right now I am at beginner stage - even though I have owned great music gear all my life - getting into the Head-Fi has renewed my love and I anxiously anticipate the arrival of my first Amp / DAC and the new Mixer I just bought during the after Christmas Clearance Frenzy. Great site - great info - great discussions on all the seemingly endless great gear you can have for just few $$$$ : ) I see lots of cool stuff in my future.

I am at the uncontrollable downfall of spending stage....can't satisfy myself constantly upgrading. Will be at the satisfied stage once my balanced amps come in and I can't upgrade anymore.

As a beginner I'm on a budget. Yet I already have 3 very capable fullsize headphones and a portable headphone amp will be next. I'm already contemplating external harddisks, DACs, a PMP and more headphones.

I'm lucky I don't have that much money I guess.

For me, enjoying vinyl records is satisfying so I feel that it's not important to really upgrade even if it may sound better. But since I love gear, it's fun to try new stuff out.

I would like to say that i am done but work in progress seems to be ongoing. I could see going balanced and was planing on it at one point but am backing off now. Every time a new product comes I first want it, then wait and then it passes. I have avoided some questionable ones due to waiting.

I am pretty satisfied with both my home and portable set up but I admit that the JH-13 sounds like and intriguing upgrade to my Triple-fi 10s. So I still have the bug I am afraid. Sure don't need another amp, and a pair of HPs would just take time away from the ones that i have and like. So what's a guy to do.

I'm a used gear addict. No doubt about that. If it's a good value I want it, even if I don't need it.
