HFI780 or ATH M50

I have been thinking about picking up the 780 for quite some time, but have not got them yet. The local guitar center has the m50's in stock and I was debating picking them up first or instead

I am trying to figure out which might be the better all around experience. I listen to mostly rock. 70 - 90s. I also listen to quite a bit of instrumental rock. Satriani, Vai etc.

From what I know, the 780's would be the winner in the bass department. How about the mids and highs?

Which headphone better separates the instruments.

Which headphone is more forward and in your face. Kind of like the Porta Pro. You don't have to turn up your music at all and you get great presentation and detail and it's right in your grill. I don't like sitting 30 rows back when I'm plugged in.

Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

M50. 780 sounds too boomy to my ears.
