How much would you pay for aluminum forks?

Im thinking of offering aluminum fork assemblies for all Grado headphones. This is the part that holds the ear cup to the headband, also known as the gimble. I will be manufacturing anodized aluminum versions similar to the RS-1, HP2, and PS1000- but as a user-installable part made to fit any Grado or Alessandro headphone.

Post what you think would be a reasonable price-range for this product.

Also, i welcome any tips or suggestions for the design.

Totally open ended question. Here's another way to look at it... Calculate your cost per unit to create a finished product, including amortization of tooling and other front end expenses. Double that to determine distributor cost. Double distributor cost to determine end-user cost. Then ask. FWIW, I would be interested in such a product.

Seriously, I'd have to agree with Il Mostro's suggestion.

Adding $150 for an aesthetic only piece to my HF-2 is too high a price. I certainly wouldn't spend that on lower Grados. At least woodies add to the sound quality as well as look cool.

TBH, I don't think anyone is willing to spend $150 for what is essentially an accessory unless they own a GS/PS1k.

TBH, that's still pushing it. Unless you can spin some half-believable story that these rods improve the sound by canceling out sound reverberations (

), it's basically a very expensive aesthetic customization.

It has been suggested that a stronger cup mount lessens vibration and improves SQ- i had read an article about this earlier. However, considering aesthetics only, i had received some interest surrounding this idea earlier from head-fi'ers.

i'd be more interested in some milled L and R blocks with locking screws.

Looks good and functional! Make it around $75 and that's a salable idea.
