Vienna New Years 2010 concert

I listened to parts of it on the radio and it was lovely and a delight. Will this concert be released on CD?

Probably will. DG usually offers a single cd of the highlights. I have seen them over the years with the Maazel era, then some Kleiber, Mehta, Abbado and others. If not a real cd, they'll likely offer a download. It's too much of a money maker not to do it. But how many Strauss waltz collections can someone want?

I enjoyed it alot. It sounded well mixed, at least on my cheap car radio speakers. I love Strauss.

Saw part of it flipping channels last night.......
didn't visually recognize the conductor Petres but he is quite a character. I know him mostly for conducting the Callas Carmen opera.

Looks like Julia Andrews will be filling in for deceased Water Cronkite as host of this great yearly program from Vienna
