anyone agree?

movie did have some brilliant moments...but overall...the mood was very dull and humour was very reserved.

But... Robert Downey Jr. has a mustache in it... HE HAS A MUSTACHE.

Anytime that man dawns facial hair, you know good things are bound to happen.

I haven't seen it yet, but the vibe I got from it was that they were going for more for charming and witty and less action packed and hilarious.

Regardless, it's Robert Downey Jr. with a mustache.

To me reserved humour is good humour. I can't stand the standard american adolescent kind.
I thought it was a brilliant movie.

Loved it.

It's one of only two movies I'm interested in seeing, so I hope it's good. I really only go to about four or five movies a year. I hate it when I pick wrong.

Was Benny Hill or Monty Python reserved humor? Let's get serious now. LoL

This is very disappointing to hear.

It was a pretty bad movie IMO. Unless you're really on the fence about seeing this, then don't see it. It was like having the reserved and poorly "translated" gusto of Iron Man with a hopeless dash of Scooby Doo in for the sake of the plot.

Well this is not good. I'm suppose to take my wife, daughter and grandson to see this tomorrow. Can someone suggest a backup movie? preferably one you've seen.

^ Yeah. This is kind of a shock for me. Haven't even watched Avatar yet... now this...

Very disappointing to hear that Nocturnal didn't appreciate it?

Rotten Tomatoes lists it as 70% and IMDb 7.7, doesn't that sound rather promising?

He is not the first to tell me it was boring. I am going to watch it anyway. I would love to hear what people who LOVE Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang thought of it.

I saw that movie last year, actually. RDJ's character, attitude, and cluelessness (lol remember when he held the revolver to the guy's head in the parking lot? ) in that movie suit the entire thing much more than here in Sherlock Holmes, where he's suddenly witty, a know-it-all, and yet he happens to need his partner to save his arse at every fight/conflict.

I don't blame anybody if they see RDJ as more of an action-based actor, and IMO that's what he is. His attitude that served him so well in Iron Man carried far too much over in Sherlock Holmes, and it just felt odd throughout the movie.

What a shame. I'll have to go check it out anyway. But I consider myself warned.

Good choice of words. Indeed, the brilliant moments made me think the movie was about to take off ... then it crashed back to average minus, every time.

What a waste. Jude Law decided to check his considerable acting ability at the door. Why?

They made so little out of so much raw material and talent. The "I'll tell you at the end how it all worked" is stolen right from The Illusionst.

Mark Strong as Lord Blackwell was, well, strong! Stole more than one scene.
