FS: DIY Hybrid Tube/SS Amp

Hello Everyone

It is time for me to sell one of my creations.

"The Cage Match" (as named by Immtbiker)
"The Hungry head-fier" as named by me.

I got the starving student amp bug a while back and liked the overall design simplicity but didnt particularly care for the fact that I would have to buy new tubes and a new power supply. I was hungry!!!111 I had a bunch of parts I was also using with the oringial MH (tubes and power supply) and decided to get cracking on the basic idea/underlying themes of the StarvingStudent and the parts that I already had.

The amp has a BJT CCS for the tube (rather than a JFET CCS like the original MH) which has 2 red LEDs that light up nice and bright in the middle of the board there. The CCS is set for about 1.3ma, which is the value taken from the datasheet for the 12fk6

The amp requires that you bias it manually like the original millet hybrid. Holes are provided through the top pannel for a small screwdriver, and probe jacks for a multimeter.

The output stage is 1 big mosfet as a source follower with the big fat power resistors as source resistors. This is closer to the starving student than the original MH.

The Output caps are exceptionally nice Elna Tonerex.

The volume control is the Akido stepper, which gives 36 (I think 36...) steps with not many resistors. It "pops" between positions, but is otherwise great.

The amp does not have a power switch, I run the PS for it off of my monster power conditioner which has a power switch so never needed one. LMK if you need one, I'l try to find one.

This amp has been the amp for the "group effort" analog rig at the past few NY & NJ head-fi meets, and consistently gets very good impressions.

The price tag is something of a joke. The "enclosure" for this amplifier followed the "cost conscious" theme of the SS. The enclosure is a $4.99 drawer organizer from the container store.

The topic of price comes up:
I would like $100 for *just* the amp and a pair of tubes. You will need your own 24V power supply. If you have a classic millet hybrid, plug this in!
