Sony X Series vs. iPod/Portable Amp w/IEMs?

Has anyone done any direct comparing between a Sony X series (through the headphone out, unamped) vs. an amped iPod with IEMs (preferably the JH-13 Pros).

Also, is there any easy way to sync an iTunes library with the Sony player?

I use a program called Salling Media Sync, which is fantastic but costs a little.

I have directly compared a Sony X and iPod 5.5g with the JH13 but not with an amp. The JH13 sounds very good with the Sony player though I wish there was less background noise. The hiss is about the same with both players. The right amp on the iPod could improve this.

Is the Sony that much better then the iPod?

i own a sony x1051, and i have to say it sounds MUCH better than an ipod. not sure with an amp though. I switched from using an ipod nano straight to a sony, and im never going back. And yes, you can sync to a sony player using itunes through a program called content transfer, which is a software included in the box. go for the sony, i highly recommend it!
