Should I upgrade my source or save up for headphone?

Currently, I am using the Ipod nano second generation, AKG K242 HD and Westone UM1. Do I need to upgrade my source? Will I hear a big improvement? I do hear hisses with my UM1 though I only hear them at really silent places.

Luckily, the Ipod nano was passed on to me by my elder sister and it was an old version already, so I won't have much of a sin to buy new equipment. I am looking at around 100~150USD range, pmp like the Teclast T51 (Nationite S:Flo), Amp3 pro 1/2, Cowon I7/9, or mabe even the cheap Sony's.

Thanks.

Generally speaking sources and cables/interconects are the "last" thing you want to upgrade because they provide the least bit of improvement; but players vary so it all depends on what you are running already.

But if you are going to upgrade I'd suggest looking at the new Touch's (if you want to keep using iTunes to manage your music), or the Cowon S9 if you want a touch player that has a design like the Touch's (and better IMO). Both players are around 200 though....so a little over your budget.

Umm..... the new Nanos are good; I have one and enjoy listening to it.

But about the headphones... do you enjoy listening to them? If you upgrade what are you looking forward to getting out of a new pair?

If you pick T51, you can get a good video and a touch screen.

If you take AMP3, you can get a decent portable amp and a hifi earphone which you can save alot of money on replacing a decent earphone. Both of them are within your price range.
