Found this: BBC News - Music therapy 'may help cut tinnitus noise levels'
Don't know if this is 'music science' but some kind of science anyway.

My tinnitus gets louder when I get tired, which can sometimes make it tough to fall asleep. I put on a bit of Brian Eno or Steve Roach on my bedroom speakers, and I'm fine.
